Leadership Monterey Peninsula (LMP) is an educational nonprofit organization offering programs to instill regional awareness and inspire community involvement to strengthen stewardship and sustainability of the community.

LMP was founded in 1982 by a group of concerned citizens, led by James F. Bracher, to provide continuity of community stewardship. The founding group included a city councilman, a chamber executive, a grand jury foreman, a school official and others who felt the need to inform a broader pool of individuals about the problems and opportunities that exist in the Monterey Bay region. They realized their time for leadership would some day pass and successors would be needed who were knowledgeable and flexible enough to make wise and informed choices when confronted with tough issues and challenges.

Our organization is modeled after other successful community leadership programs from across the country while reflecting the unique needs and concerns of our local region.
