Increasing the capacity and effectiveness of nonprofits in Monterey County
LeaderLink matches community volunteers with nonprofit organizations interested in expanding their board of directors. The matching and recruitment capability helps community members identify and join nonprofit boards while giving the nonprofits access to a wider pool of qualified candidates. The program matches Monterey County nonprofits with potential board members that have similar interests, talents, and background. The LeaderLink collaborative presently includes the Community Foundation for Monterey County and Leadership Monterey Peninsula.
LeaderLink offers nonprofit organizations the opportunity to prepare to best receive new board members. Agencies interested in participating should attend the workshop "Building Your Board for Agency Success" (next workshop on May 6, 2008) before participating in matches. The May 6th workshop is designed for agencies to strengthen their infrastructure to bring on qualified new board members.
LeaderLink offers individuals the chance to learn more about board roles and responsibilities in preparation for sitting on a nonprofit board. Individuals interested in participating should attend the workshop "Basics of Board Leadership" before participating in matches.
Once the nonprofit organizations and individuals have participated in their respective workshops, a Matching Event is held. The Matching Event is a reception where nonprofit organizations come together with individuals to promote good matches.
